This month Big Boy attended Theatre Camp at the Main Street Theatre. He attended the "mini camp" - the one that is a week long - most of their camps are 2 weeks long.
The camp was held at the Joy School - a beautiful facility. I was a bit disappointed to find that it was actually located within the portables at the back of the Joy School instead of in the main school building, but the facilities were very nice.
Big Boy had a great time at this camp. The ages of the campers ranged from 6-14 and this suited Big Boy well - I find that he thrives in environments where he is in a younger group of children with older children in his class. The camp was very well organized with the children attended various classes each day. In the classes they learned about costume design, set design, acting, singing, and choreography. Big Boy came away from the camp each day somewhat exhausted but looking like he had great fun.
On the last day of camp, the students presented a showcase in the Chelsea Market Theatre. They worked toward this show all week and the presentation went very well. They performed the show "Three Billy Goats Gruff". Big Boy had 3 lines and made his own costume.....I was very proud of him!
I felt that this camp was good value and a nice contrast to the Saplings Camp that Big Boy attended in Edmonton.
After the showcase we let Big Boy pick a spot for a dinner out - he picked El Ray! That was certainly alright with me!
P.S., if you are wondering whether my use of "alright" is acceptable - I looked it up and it appears that it is!
